News and Notes (presented by Shortboxed) (8:04)

For episode 81, Chris and Aaron discuss the new Pokémon Scarlet/Violet trailer that reveals new Legendaries/release date, the new trailer for DC's GOTHAM KNIGHTS series coming to The CW, and James Earl Jones reprises the Darth Vader role in the OBI-WAN KENOBI series.

Main Topic (26:16)

For our main topic, we review the sequel that was 36 years in the making: TOP GUN: MAVERICK. After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell is where he belongs: pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him for the remainder of his naval service. Training a detachment of young hot shots for a special assignment, Maverick must confront the ghosts of his past, including the son of his former RIO and best friend, and his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it.
